Finch Bird Cages |
||
When buying finch bird cages, buy cages with a lot of room. Your finch will thank you. The finch loves to fly. It needs to fly. That's why you need to give it plenty of room to spread its wings and fly to different areas of the bird cage. That is why you need as big of a bird cage as you can afford and that will fit in the area that you have reserved for it. Finches also love company, which is why when people buy them for pets, they usually get more than one. They are communal birds and, except when they are nesting, love the company of other finches. This is yet another reason for having a large cage. If one needs a lot of room, two will need even more. As a minimum threshold, look at 30 inches as the minimum width you will consider. Flight bird cages are a perfect example of the type cage that finches will love. Also, when you buy your finches, talk to the pet shop owner and get his suggestions as to cage sizes. You also don't want bars that are spaced too far apart. Too wide and they will fly right through the bars. But you also don't want bar spacings that are close to their width as they might try to get out and get stuck in the bars. A spacing bar width of about an inch apart will do perfectly in most cases. As far as materials, you can't go wrong with a stainless steel bird cage. Stainless steel is sturdy, the finches can't eat through the bars. Stainless steel is easy to clean and disinfect. It is also non-toxic, so when the birds pick at the bars, they won't ingest harmful and toxic chemicals. And stainless steel looks nice. Some people like acrylic as well. It's a good choice for a lot of the same reasons as stainless steel. But if you do get acrylic, be sure to get the type that doesn't yellow with age.
